The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
(spoiler-free movie review)
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension is a quirky 80’s adventure film with an all-star cast that deliver eccentric and memorable performances. It’s a weird movie but in the best sort of way.

Peter Weller plays the titular lead role and he gives an excellent performance. In the past, I’ve always associated Weller with his iconic performance in Robocop but recently I’ve watched a few of his other films from the same era. In doing so, I’ve learned to appreciate him even more. From Leviathan to Naked Lunch he’s proven to be an interesting(and fun to watch) leading man.
The supporting cast is equally interesting with John Lithgow and Christopher Lloyd being standouts. Jeff Goldblum rounds out the cast and makes a statement in his flamboyant cowboy outfit.
The story can be a little confusing at times but the overall premise is pretty straightforward. Buckaroo Banzai(Peter Weller) and his crime-fighting team, The Honk Kong Cavaliers, have to fend off aliens looking to conquer Earth.
This movie is definitely a product of it’s time but if you enjoy everything 80’s, like myself, than you’ll find a lot to like with The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.
