Hotel Transylvania 2 wasn’t quite as good as the first movie but it sill managed to deliver plenty of laughs. Most of the original cast return for the sequel with a few exceptions, most notably CeeLo Green as Murray, being replaced by Keegan-Michael Key. Mel Brooks joins the team as Vlad(the Vampa!) and, not surprisingly, delivers a wonderful performance.
– Dracula(Adam Sandler) giving “pouty bat-face” in Hotel Transylvania 2.
The story had good pacing but a few of the scenes felt rushed. The first few minutes of the film see multiple passages of time, spanning many years, glossing over important moments in the character’s life’s.
A few of the jokes carry-over from the original and they continue to be funny the second time around. “Blah, Blah, Blah” still manages to get chuckles in my home.
– Wayne(Steve Buscemi), Frankenstein(Kevin James) and Dracula(Adam Sandler).
The animation was colorful, pleasing to the eye and on par with the other Hotel Transylvania movies. Sony incorporated too much advertising into the film with their Sony Vaio computers and Sony smartphones making several appearances.
Hotel Transylvania 2 is an excellent choice for a family friendly Halloween movie and a worthy sequel to the original.
